How can this experience help you?\n~have you picked out a Drury program for students abroad or an affiliated program or internship?\nIf you have strong answers to these questions and are a Pell Grant student and U.S. citizen\, you may consider an application for the Gilman Scholarship. It’s due in early October so you need to start now. More information is below. \nBenjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program (study abroad)\nThe largest undergraduate scholarship program for students with financial needs providing up to $5\,000 towards credit-bearing study abroad or international internship programs. Funded by the U.S. Department of State\, over 3\,000 finalists are chosen to immerse themselves in another country and promote mutual understanding and respect. This award encourages underrepresented groups in education and small and rural towns to apply. First-generation students are given preference in the application\, as are veterans and those who have never traveled abroad. In 2021\, 70% of the Gilman scholar recipients came from small rural towns. Successful applicants demonstrate how the experience will benefit their future career goals and/or articulate how the experience will help them. Gilman scholars write a Community Impact Essay that describes how they will continue to serve as cultural ambassadors for the program upon their return\, relating their experiences to others in a campus service project. In 2021\, 42 Gilman Scholars were accepted into the Fulbright scholarship program.\nWebsite: https://www.gilmanscholarship.org/program/program-overview/ \nGilman–McCain Award – Gilman (Military)\nThis program is designed to ensure that students with families in the military receive the opportunity to study abroad.\nAdditional Advisors: Dr. Tom Russo\, Director of Study Abroad\, trusso@drury.edu; Becky Ahrens\, Financial Aid.\nEligibility: Active-duty military\, Child\, or Spousal Dependent of the U.S. Armed Forces (Army\, Marines\, Air Force\, Coast Guard\, etc.\nEligibility Deadline: October.\nWebsite: https://www.gilmanscholarship.org/program/gilman-mccain-scholarships/ URL:/currentevent/making-study-abroad-affordable/ LOCATION:Olin Library\, Room 002 CATEGORIES:Study Abroad ORGANIZER;CN="Shelley%20Wolbrink":MAILTO:swolbrin@drury.edu END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20240927 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20240928 DTSTAMP:20240907T220706 CREATED:20230830T150329Z LAST-MODIFIED:20230830T150541Z UID:40409-1727395200-1727481599@www.drury.edu SUMMARY:Family Day DESCRIPTION: URL:/currentevent/family-day-2024/ LOCATION:Drury University Main Campus\, 900 N Benton Ave Springfield 65802 CATEGORIES:New Student Programs ORGANIZER;CN="Jennifer%20Stewart":MAILTO:jstewart012@drury.edu END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20240928 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20240929 DTSTAMP:20240907T220706 CREATED:20211005T225609Z LAST-MODIFIED:20211005T225609Z UID:24029-1727481600-1727567999@www.drury.edu SUMMARY:Family Day DESCRIPTION: URL:/currentevent/family-day-4/ CATEGORIES:New Student Programs ORGANIZER;CN="Jennifer%20Stewart":MAILTO:jstewart012@drury.edu END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
